Did You Know!
- Mid-quarter Reports go home on Wednesday, February 28.
- National Lutheran Schools Week is coming up Sunday, March 4 through Saturday, March 10. We will have a number of special events to celebrate NLSW including: NLSW-Sunday/Staff Recognition on March 4. Those teachers and staff members celebrating an anniversary will be recognized and there will be a reception between services. Science Fair projects will be put up on Tuesday, March 6 and will judged that evening. The EGLS Science Fair will be open for public viewing on Wednesday, March 7 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, March 8 from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Projects must be down by Thursday after school. We will also celebrate Visitor’s Day on Wednesday, March 7 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Parents, grandparents, family members are invited to join us for chapel and then to visit the classrooms the rest of the morning. We also invite you to join us for lunch that day but you will need to make a reservation so Mrs. Mies will know how much food to prepare.
- Each school family has been asked to decorate a “sun page” for National Lutheran Schools Week. Please complete your family’s “sun page” and return it to school on Monday 2-26. Thank you for your participation in this all school project.
- Family Education Night for the parents of students in grades 5 and 8 is scheduled for Tuesday, March 13 starting at 6:30 p.m. At this meeting the classroom teacher will cover the Family Education curriculum materials that will be used in the classroom as well as answer any questions you might have. Please put this important date on your calendar.
- Mrs. Weymier has ordered a supply of display boards for student science fair projects. They are a tri-fold style, measuring 24” in the center and 12” on each wing. Height is 32”. The display boards are white and cost $2.00 each. If you are interested in purchasing a display board from Mrs. Weymier, put your money in an envelope marked with your child’s name, grade and the words “Science Fair Board”. Mrs. Weymier will send the board home with the student.
- Girls Volleyball for girls in grades 7 and 8 will begin the week of March 5 with a practice on Monday, 3/5 from 3:45 until 5:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, March 8 from 3:45-5:00. The MLESAA positioning day for 7/8 girls is on Friday, March 9 starting at 4:00 p.m. at Milwaukee Lutheran High School.
- Lent began on Ash Wednesday, February 21 so be sure to include time during Lent for midweek services. Pastor Myers chapel message for Ash Wednesday is on our Web page www.egl.org under Sermon Audio Files, Past Sermon Audio Files.

Did You Know!
- Parent Teacher Conferences are on Monday, February 19. There are no classes that day.
- Students need to be dressing appropriately for outdoor recess – hats, gloves, and boots. Recess is outside unless the wind chill is below 0°.
- Students will not be at school on Monday, 2-12 and Monday, 2-19. What a perfect time to do some extra work on your SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT!! Remember, completed projects should arrive at school on Tuesday, March 6 between 8:05am and 6:00pm.
- Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, February 21. This year on Ash Wednesday we will be asking the students to take a few minutes before chapel and think about a sin that they would like to confess. They will then write that sin on a slip of paper and during chapel will take the paper forward and hang it on a cross as a symbol of our giving our sins to Christ who has died for those sins. There will also be an imposition of ashes for those students who choose to participate.
- Ash Wednesday Services at EGL will be at 7:45 a.m. Imposition of Ashes, 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

- Martin Luther High Enrollment: At this time, Martin Luther High School is processing enrollments for the 2007-2008 school year. Did You Know!
- The 5/6 boys play this evening at 6:30 p.m. in the opening round of the 32nd annual Spirit Tournament. The 5/6 girls lost their opening round game to Our Redeemer and will play First Immanuel on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Go Wildcats!
- There is no school on Monday, February 12 designated as Winter Break.
- Yearbook order forms are due back in the office by Tuesday, February 13. You also received your sign-up sheet for Parent Teacher Conferences on Monday, February 19 these sheets are also due back in the office by Tuesday, February 13. This conference is for all middle school students not by request.
- Group Pictures for music, sports, and other group activities will be taken on Thursday, February 15.
- The order forms for the 2006-2007 yearbook went home. The form and your payment need to be sent back into the school office by Tuesday, February 13. Additional forms are available.
- Martin Luther High Enrollment: At this time, Martin Luther High School is processing enrollments for the 2007-2008 school year. Eighth grade students planning on attending Martin Luther should have their registration form in the school office, so they can be scheduled for freshman programming on February 19, 26, or March 5.

Did You Know!
- The Spirit Tournament is next week! If you know of a restaurant or business that would be willing to donate a gift certificate for the Big Shot contest again let Mrs. Tesch know or contact the school office. There is also a sign-up board in the downstairs hallway for volunteers to sign-up to work at the tournament.
- Please put Friday, May 18 on your calendar, the date of our annual EGLS Golf Outing/Auction. Information will be coming home soon on sponsorships and donations to the auction. We are also looking someone to serve as co-chair of the auction and work on the golf outing. If you are interested please contact Ron Hessenthaler or Cheryl Alles.
- February 5-9 is Spirit Week. We will have a different theme each day to encourage the students to show their spirit and support our teams. Monday, 2/5 will be Pajama Day, Tues. 2/6 will be Hat/Cap day. Wed. 2/7 will be Dress-up Day, and Thurs. 2/8 will be School Spirit Day. There will be a Pep Rally to support our teams on Thursday, 2/8 at 2:30 p.m. and we will have a special pom routine by some of our 3rd and 4th grade girls.

Did You Know!
- All 5th – 8th grade science fair entrance forms should have been turned in to Mrs. Weymier today Friday, January 26, 2007.
- Grades 5-8 will attend the Milwaukee Symphony Youth Concert on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Students should wear choir attire to school that day. We will leave shortly after chapel and return in time for lunch.
- The Spirit Tournament is only two weeks away! Forms have come home asking for your help with finding sponsors for the tournament book or businesses to donate prizes for the Big Shot contest. If your company might be interested or you know of a company that would be interested in placing an ad in the tournament book, please contact Mrs. Tesch. Did You Know!
- The second quarter ends on Thursday, January 18. Report cards will go home on Wednesday, January 24.
- There is no school Friday, January 19. The teachers will be taking part in an in-service here at EGLS on that day.
- The EGLS Open House for this year is scheduled for Wednesday, January 24 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Families may visit anytime during the day, but teachers will be available from 4:00-7:00 p.m. We have posters available if you would be willing to display one in your business or lawn signs if you would be willing to put one up in front of your home. If you know of any families seeking a Christian education for their child, please encourage them to stop by.

Classes resume on Wednesday, January 3. *Put Friday, January 5 on your calendar for the 2006-2007 EGLS Spelling Bee. The Grade 3-4 bee will start at 1:00 p.m. in the CLC with the 5-8 bee to follow at approximately 1:45. Parents are invited to join us for this special event. Did You Know!
· Jubilate Ringers play Sunday, December 17 at the 8:00 a.m. service. The Children’s Christmas Service is Wednesday, December 20 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Students who are wearing costumes should arrive by 5:50 p.m. All other students should meet in the Fellowship Hall by 6:10 p.m. · All items for the Christmas Servant Event for A Place of Refuge are due by Tuesday, December 19. (see the article on page 6) · Put Friday, January 5 on your calendar for the 2006-2007 EGLS Spelling Bee. EGLS MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS

Did You Know!
- The Instrumental Christmas Concert is coming up Tuesday, December 12 starting at 7:00 p.m. in the gym.
- Make sure you also put Friday, December 15 on your calendar when our instrumental groups (band, handbells, and strings) will be playing at the Mitchell Park Domes beginning at 10:30 a.m.
- The Children’s Christmas Service for school students and Sunday School students is scheduled for Wednesday, December 20 starting at 6:30 p.m.
- You should have also received a letter of information on the all school servant event that we will be doing in place of the student gift exchange and teacher gifts this year. Students can begin bringing items from their classroom list anytime. If you did not receive the information please contact your classroom teacher or the school office.
- In sports news the 5/6 boys lost a close game to St. Martini on Wednesday this week. The 5/6 girls won their first game vs. Grace. Last Saturday the 7/8 boys won their first game vs. Grace-Oak Creek. The 7/8 boys play again this Saturday vs. Hales Corners and the 5/6 teams are both in action on Monday. Go Wildcats!

EGLS MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS December 4 – December 8
Did You Know!
- We want to welcome a new student to our middle school family. Peter Li enrolled in our sixth grade class this week. Peter was previously at Pilgrim Parkway Middle School. Peter’s brother Andrew attended EGLS in Pre K-3 and Pre K-4. We will hope you will greet Peter and his family and make them feel at home here at EGLS.
- Mid-quarter Reports go home next Wednesday, December 6. If you have any questions or concerns once you receive the mid-quarters you are encouraged to contact your homeroom or subject area teacher right away.
- Advent Services begin here at EGL on Wednesday, December 6 at 6:30 p.m. If you do not have a church home we would invite you to join us for these services that prepare our hearts to greet the new, born king. If you do have a church home we would encourage you to take advantage of the services your congregation offers.
- Basketball league games begin this Saturday when the 7/8 boys take on Grace-Oak Creek on Saturday, December 2 starting at 11:30 a.m. at Milwaukee Lutheran High School. Then next Wednesday, December 6 the 5/6 boys will play St. Martini at EGLS beginning at 4:00 p.m. Then on Thursday, December 7 the 5/6 girls will play Grace at EGLS beginning at 4:00 p.m. We hope you can come out and cheer on our Wildcat teams.

EGLS MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS

Did You Know!
· Students singing in the grade 3-8 choir and playing in the Jubilate Handbell Choir for the Thanksgiving Eve service should be at EGL by 6:05 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22. Students should meet in the music room and be dressed in choir attire. Please let Mrs. Bessert know if you will not be able to attend.
· Harvest Parties will take place Wednesday, November 22 starting at 2:30 p.m. If you are interested in helping please contact your class room parents.
· There is no school on Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 for Thanksgiving Vacation.
· Please remember chapel offerings in November go to the Food Pantry. The student offering may be monetary or dried food items.
· A blessed Thanksgiving to all of our students and parents in the EGLS Middle School! The Lord has indeed blessed EGLS with a wonderful, caring and loving students and parents in our middle school. We thank the Lord for his bountiful goodness and remember those in need!
