Monday evening (at sunset), October 13, is the beginning of the eight-day Jewish Feast of Tabernacles.

Tabernacles (Sukkot in Hebrew) is one of three pilgrimage feasts in Judaism, when all Jews want to be in Jerusalem for the celebration. EGL members and friends, however, do not have to go to Jerusalem to learn about this feast. It is coming here to Elm Grove!

Steve Cohen, Founder of The Apple of His Eye Mission Society (a Recognized Service Organization of the LCMS), will explain the meaning and application of Tabernacles at a special 6:30 p.m. service.

The term Apple of His Eye comes from the Bible. It refers to the ‘small man’ or pupil of the eye that is protected by the Lord:

For the LORD’s portion is his people, Jacob his allotted inheritance. In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye ... (Deuteronomy 32:9-10)

The AOHE Mission Society exists to boldly declare Y’shua (Jesus) as the Messiah and urgently equip God’s people to do the same. Its vision and passion are to see Jewish people and Gentiles given the opportunity to consider the Biblical claims of Jesus as Messiah and respond in faith. Their Web site is www.appleofhiseye.org.

Don’t miss this very special worship service at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2008. And, don’t forget to invite (and bring) your Jewish friends.
