February 6 – 12

Memory:  (Wednesday)

It is listed on the bottom.

Spelling:  (Friday)

chopped, tapping, saving, cared, rubbed, fixing, smiled, joking, dropped, grinning, wrapped, patted, ladder, lion, multiply, divide, noun, verb, propped, framed, build, plan, branches, quarter, boards

Book-It: The children will need to read 2 chapter books in February (and pass the AR tests with at least 8 out of 10 or 80%).  All of the books need to be at least a 3.6 reading level. (The book for their book report may be one of the books for Book-It.)

Valentine Party: Our Valentine party will be on February 14th beginning at 2:30. You may send your valentines to school anytime this week.

Spirit Week: The Spirit Tournament is next weekend (Feb. 9 – 12).  To show our school spirit, we will have a theme for each day this week.  Your child may dress up to follow the theme of the day.  If anyone is having trouble finding someone to match up with on Tuesday, let me know and I’ll help them find someone.

Monday-Mix it Up day/Crazy hair day (no paint, dye, etc Mismatch your clothes)

Tuesday- Twin day (dress together with someone or can be triplets)

Wednesday-Dress Up day-nice clothes

Thursday-Blue and White day

Friday-Pajama Day

Spirit Tournament: We still need a lot of volunteers for the Spirit Tournament next weekend. Contact the school office if you are interested or sign up on the volunteer boards just inside the school doors.

Field Trip: Our field trip to Old World Wisconsin is on May 25th.  We can take any parents who would like to attend, so mark your calendar!

Helen Keller: The book Helen Keller went home today.  Your child needs to read the book by Tuesday, February 14.  This book is only a 3.1 reading level so it may not be one of your child’s AR books for February.

Book Report:  For this book report, you may pick any book.  The book should be challenging for your child, and should not be based on a movie.  After reading the book, your child should make a poster advertising why we should read the book.  Make sure that the title and author are listed somewhere on the poster.  It will be due at the end of February.  Your child will need to present the poster to the class.  I will want a FEW details about the book, but not the entire plot.  This should be like a commercial for the book.  If you haven’t already done so, I need to know what book your child is reading by Monday.

Spelling: Be sure to practice writing the spelling words in cursive.  In a few weeks, the words will be wrong if they are written incorrectly.  The children may ask at any time (even during the test) how to make a letter, or if they connected letters correctly.

Flash Cards: The 9’s are due on Monday, and the 10’s are due on Thursday, February 9th.

Read to Succeed: The forms are due on February 20th.

Upcoming Tests:

Math: Chapter 7 test on February 7 (study sheet home on February 8)

Science: Chapter 9 test on February 9 (study sheet home on February 9)

Social Studies: Chapter 8 test on February 16 (study sheet home on February 14)

Devotions:

Monday:  Ryan

Tuesday: Kaylee

Thursday: Cassandra

Friday: Noah

Memory:

Honor your father and mother – this is the first commandment

With a promise – that it may go well with you and that you may

Live long in the land.  Ephesians 6:2-3

Next week:

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as

God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
