November 10 – 14

Memory: (Wednesday)

7th commandment

You shall not steal.

What does this mean?

We should fear and love God so that we do not take our neighbor’s money or possessions, or get them in any dishonest way, but help him to improve and protect his possessions and income.

Spelling: (Friday)

knee, scratch, patch, wrap, knot, wrong, watch, knife, write, knock, match, know, Solomon, crust, mantle, core, because, neighbor

Fall Festival: The PTL Fall Festival is on Friday, November 14th.

Thanksgiving Food Offering: We will be collecting food for the food pantry in November.  Each class is focusing on certain items.  Our class should bring peanut butter and jelly.

Multiplication Facts: The 7’s will be due on Monday.  The 8’s will be due on November 17th.

Skating Party: The skating party is on Monday, November 10, followed by a PTL Fundraiser dinner at Culvers.

2nd Quarter Book Report:  The 2nd quarter book report will be to read a mystery or adventure book.  After reading the book, the children should make a mobile to tell about the story.  The mobile should have the title and the author, and should show the characters, setting, or any other key items in the story. The children are all capable of reading longer books.  The book that is read for the book report should reflect your child’s reading ability.  Book reports are due by November 26th.   This book report should be given without any notes, and should include the characters, setting, and key events in the story.

Noah’s Ark Dive into Reading Program: Are you keeping track of the time you read for the Dive into Reading program?  The time read for the Reading Log and time spent reading for the book report and Book-It can all be used for this program.  Keep in mind that this program is optional.

Book-It: For November, your child needs to read 2 AR books at level 3.3 or higher.  They need to pass the test (at least 8 out of 10 questions correct, or 80%).  Once again, there will be a grade for this assignment (100% if completed, 0% if not completed).

Picture Retakes: November 13th is the day for picture retakes.  If you didn’t like how your child’s pictures turned out, just return the packet to school by November 13th, and we’ll have your child’s picture retaken.

Book Order: A book order went home today.  It is due on Wednesday.  If you order from both order forms, you only need one check.  Make checks payable to “Scholastic”.

FastDirect: There is a listing of when the multiplication facts for the next few weeks are due on my FastDirect Bulletin Board.

Upcoming Tests:

Science: Chapter 5 test – November 17 (study sheet home on November 12)

Language: Unit 2 test – November 20 (study sheet home on November 18)

Social Studies:  Chapter 4 test – November 24 (study sheet home on November 20)

Next Week’s Memory:

8th commandment

You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

What does this mean?

We should fear and love God so that we do not tell lies about our neighbor, betray him, slander him, or hurt his reputation, but defend him, speak well of him, and explain everything in the kindest way.
