Third Grade Newsletter - November 24-28
By Pam Ganswindt @ 3:05 PM :: 19 Views :: 3rd Grade

November 24 – 26

Memory: (Wednesday)

9th commandment

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house.

What does this mean?

We should fear and love God so that we do not scheme to get our neighbor’s inheritance or house, or get it in a way which only appears right, but help and be of service to him in keeping it.

Spelling: There is no spelling this week.

No school: There is no school on Thursday and Friday due to Thanksgiving break.

Choir: The 3rd-8th graders will be singing in church on Wednesday night.  The service begins at 6:30.  Please have your child in the Music Center by 6:05.  Everyone should wear choir attire.

Harvest Party: The harvest party will be on Wednesday at 2:30.

Multiplication: The 9’s are due on Monday; the 11’s are due on Wednesday, November 26th.

Gift Exchange: This year instead of a gift exchange, we will be doing an all school service project.  Our service project will be to send school supplies to children in the Dominican Republic. With the money you would have spent on the children’s gift exchange, and on a teacher gift, you can buy school supplies or send in money for shipping costs.  We’ll take care of the rest.

Book-It: Have you taken your 2 AR tests?  Wednesday is the last day.  Remember that your child gets a grade for this assignment.  If your child passes 2 AR tests by November 30th, they get 100%, if they only pass 1 AR test, or if they don’t pass any AR tests, they get 0%.

Christmas Service: Speaking parts went home last week.  Your child needs to have their part memorized by December 5th.

Backpack:  The third grade backpack will begin going home the week after Thanksgiving.  Each child will have the backpack for one week.  The backpack is designed to help your family in their walk with God.  It contains a game, a DVD, a family devotion book, and some puzzles for you and your child(ren) to enjoy.  If there is a week that is especially busy, let me know and I’ll be sure the backpack goes home with your child at a different time.

Upcoming tests:

Social Studies:  Chapter 4 test – November 24 (study sheet home on November 20)

Math:  Chapter 4 test – December 3 (study sheet home on December 2)

Science: Chapter 6 test – December 10 (study sheet home on December 8)

Social Studies: Chapter 5 test – December 15 (study sheet home on December 11)

Next Week’s Memory:

10th commandment

You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

What does this mean?

We should fear and love God so that we do not entice or force away our neighbor’s wife, workers, or animals, or turn them against him, but urge them to stay and do their duty.
