We believe that God has saved us solely by his grace through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ. We accept the Bible as the inspired, inerrant Word of God, the only foundation of Christian Faith and life.
Our constitution identifies the purpose of EGLC: "to assist and support the community of believers as they carry out the Great Commision throughout the world and live the Christian Life." In other words, in this church God's Word is proclaimed and His Sacraments administered for the forgiveness of sins, life and salvation. Through this ministry God the Holy Spirit continues to call, gather, and enlighten people to be His own, to worship His Holy Name, and to serve Him each day in all they do. We are witnesses of God's saving action in Jesus Christ in our local community, the surrounding city, state and country, and throughout the world.
We confess the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ to be truly present and distributed under the bread and wine of the Lord's Supper. We therefore follow the ancient Christian practice of close(d) communion out of concern for the spiritual welfare of all who commune (I Corinthians 11:23-30) as well as a confession of unity of faith (I Corinthians 10:17, Romans 16:17-19).
